Mathews Jacob, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering received a Ph.D. degree from the Biomedical Imaging Group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 2003. He was a Beckman postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign between 2003 and 2006. He was an assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Radiology at the University of Rochester between 2007 and 2011. He is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award and is currently serving as the associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. The main focus of his research is on the development of image reconstruction and analysis algorithms, with specific emphasis on magnetic resonance imaging and near-infrared spectroscopic imaging.
